Hello to all the Collage family! My name is Henley and I have been placed in the Dynamic English classroom on Wednesdays by my university. Last week I had the pleasure of meeting the kids in this classroom as the teacher, Jake, introduced concepts such as global warming and pollution to the preteens. It was exciting to see the kids dynamic, English-speaking skills, and motivation to learn the language- in fact, they have inspired me to make a greater effort learning Spanish myself. At such a young age, they are a very talented group. That said, I appreciate how small the group is because each child is unique and has different strengths and weaknesses. With my added help, Jake and I are able to give even closer attention to each individual. My goal is to inspire the kids to learn and make Collage an even MORE exciting place to come after school!
To tell you a little about myself, I am from Atlanta, Georgia which is a large, southern city in America. I go to the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Charleston is a historic city (for America), on southern wetlands and is an incredible place to go to school. Studying in Barcelona has been a dream of mine since I was very young and in the month that I have been here I have grown to love the culture, and the people. Although I am in school here with mostly American students, I have found my best experiences have been in interaction with native Barcelonians. Everyone I meet has something new to teach me, and the same goes for the children of Collage. Although I am in the classroom to assist Jake and teach, the kids teach me more about the true nature of life here in Barcelona. I look forward to getting to know your children! I will be at Collage Wednesdays from 17.30-19.15 and am available to assist in any way possible!
